Lions World Sight Day – 10th October 2024

One of Lion’s Global Causes is VISION. We served and advocated for the blind and visually impaired. Lions SightFirst is one of the Vision programs. Its strategy is to organise projects in partnership with local health authorities, eye care professionals and other non-governmental organizations. Lions will actively involve in project management, fundraising, advocacy, coordination of outreach events and publicity.
District Chairperson for Vision, Lion Jennifer Chew, in collaboration with Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) National Eye Care Day, held a Lions World Sight Day Project in conjunction with the Healthier East Coast Fair at Bedok Community Centre on 6th October 2024. The event started with a morning Walk-A-Jog at 8am, followed by Health Talks and Exhibitions at various healthy lifestyle bazaar stalls. These combine events created an added buzz of activities involving about 1,200 residents of the East Coast GRC with media news coverage by the Chinese paper, Lianhe Zao Bao.
Gracing this event is the Guest of Honor, Mr Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State for National Development and Communication & Information and our Lions District Governor Shirley observing the eye screening activities for 362 beneficiaries over 8 stations. About 500 reading glasses were also given out.
