Lions SaveSight Centre (Singapore) is registered with the Registrar of Societies on 1 July 2008.

 

In pursuit of Lions Clubs International global program on sight preservation, awareness and action, LSSC endeavours to:

  • Establish a centre for the prevention of blindness with strong emphasis on diabetes retinopathy, a blinding complication of  diabetes
  • Develop prevention of blindness program blindness caused by cataract, glaucoma & corneal diseases
  • Create care services, education & training, screening, counseling & research to complement current developments in the prevention of blindness
  • Coordinate outreach prevention of blindness programs to extend to neighbouring countries in Asia & beyond
  • Establish eye bank & corneal transplantation with links to Lions Clubs International and its networks & links on sight
    conservation and eye banks

 
LSSC is supported by majority of Lions Clubs in Singapore and has working partnership with:

  • Singapore National Eye Centre
  • Singapore Eye Research Institute
  • Diabetic Society of Singapore
  • Lions Clubs International, District 308-A1 Singapore

 

LSSC current activities include:

  • Lions Recycle for Sight (LRS)– theLRS Project Team has established a wide network in the collection of used spectacles from our local community. The LRS Project Team also works in collaboration with schools and tertiary institutions in the cleaning, sterilizing and grading used spectacles before distributing to the poor and needy with correctable vision.
  • Annual eye screening for the seniors in conjunxction with Lions World’s Sight Day
  • Annual eye care lecture to educate the public in proper eye care
  • Eye care talk to schools to educate our young on the importance proper eye care
