Invitation to District Hearing Event on Thursday afternoon 13th March 2025 at Centre of Activity and Recreation for the Elders (CARE)

Lions Clubs International is steeped in the tradition of raising awareness, providing medical care and educating communities regarding hearing loss prevention. As early as 1925 at the Lions Clubs International Convention, Helen Keller had appealed to Lions who have their sight and who are strong and brave and kind, to extend help to the deaf and blind.

When Lions Clubs of Singapore Meyer was chartered in 2014, one of our first signature projects was in hearing and we brought regular hearing screens to Lions Befrienders and Centre of Activity and Recreation for the Elders (CARE) at Hong Lim. Following this, we partnered with NUS School of Audiology in 2018 to bring “Dangerous Decibels” ®️ to children aged 10 -11 of a primary school.

This year in 2025, we are excited to bring to you aagain a hearing screen with our service partner who are specialists in the field. We are also working for the first time with Leos from the Leo Club of Nanyang Polytechnic who will be our volunteers at this District hearing event. We cordially invite all Lions to our complimentary hearing event with the programme tabled below:

1.20 pm Presentation of Leo bell by our Guest of Honour, District Governor Shirley Lee
1.30 pm Hearing talk by Dr Vyas Prasad “The ear, ear wax and hearing loss”
2.00 pm Hearing talk by Dr Rebecca Heywood “Handling patients with hearing loss”
2.30 pm Afternoon tea break for all
3.00 pm Otoscopy for beneficiaries
3.30 pm Hearing Screening Audiometry for beneficiaries
5.30 pm End
