Back to Basics, Together We Serve

Dear Fellow Lions of District 308-A1,

May this occasion be the start of an exciting journey in our preparations for Lions Centennial Celebration to benefit the less fortunate amongst our community in this part of the world.

As Lions, we contribute our resources and volunteer our time to help the needy and underprivileged within our society.

It is indeed befitting and meaningful that the Centennial Theme is ‘ Where there is a Need, there is a Lion’.

We will all come together to organise, plan and execute effectively the 4 Centennial Service Challenge – Engaging Our Youth, Sharing The Vision, Relieving The Hunger and Protecting Our Environment as we aim to serve 100 million people around the World.

The theme for my year is Back To Basics, Together We Serve. As our Sub-District in Singapore is reaching 60 years soon, it’s time to retrospect on how the Lions movement has progressed n made its mark on our community. Very often we tend to forget the vision and basic principles of being a Lion. We are here to serve others n not fulfil our own mission of glory n fame.

“Together” is another important n key facet I want to emphasise as over time, separate factions have developed. Many District activities and the searching for 205 future leaders have been polarised which is not healthy for Lionism. I hope through my sincerity n genuine spirit, we all can come together united once again as a distinctive n distinguished pride of Lions.

This is particularly so when Singapore will be hosting the Lions Clubs International Convention in 2020.

This year besides the annual Membership Directory, my Cabinet will be producing Understanding Lions – SG50 Special Publication and will also launch Lions Business & Services Guide for all members to know and support each other.

We trust these initiatives will inspire and generate significant membership growth while making concerted efforts to retain and strengthen our pride in the world’s largest Service Organisation – Lions Club International.

For the first time after 57 years of Lionism in Singapore, we have the golden opportunity to showcase to millions of television viewers Lions Fund Raising Charity Show broadcast LIVE via Media Corp Singapore over Channel 8 on Sunday 24th January 2016.

The proceeds of this Charity Show will be for the benefit of our District Lions Entities
– Lions Home For The Elders and Lions Befrienders Service Association.

I call upon all Lions and their friends to come forward and actively support this Charity Show and raise funds from the pubic.

Let’s move forward diligently and selflessly as “WE SERVE” with 2015-2016 International Presidential Theme – Dignity, Harmony and Humanity.

For our District, let’s all go Back to Basics, and Together We Serve.

Have a Wonderful & Successful Lion Year Ahead.

God Bless. ROAR ROAR ROAR
