Dear Fellow Lions of District 308-A1,
During these challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing, we have to look for innovative ways to serve the less fortunate in our community. Let us stay strong, motivated and continue to safely serve.
It is most unfortunate that the 2020 Lions International Convention in Singapore had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I am pleased to inform you that the board of directors of Lions Clubs International had unanimously voted to approve the rescheduling of the 2020 International Convention to the 2028 International Convention in Singapore from 23 – 27 June 2028.
In line with the direction of Lions Clubs International to promote growth and vitality of Clubs, the goals of the District for the fiscal year 2020-2021 are:
- Encourage membership growth;
- Retention of members by securing member satisfaction through active service and proper orientation;
- Discover and nurture future leaders of our District; and
- Support Lions Clubs International Foundation.
The theme of International President Dr Jung-Yul Choi is “United in Kindness and Diversity”. For Lions, “Kindness” inspires and reminds us of something that it too often forgotten.
Let us never forget to be a voice for hope and compassion to those “We Serve”.
Congratulations to all club office holders, without you stepping up to these positions Lions could not exist. May you have a positive year serving those in need and making our community a better place to live.
My deepest appreciation to those who responded positively by taking up the challenge to being on the Cabinet of our District.
Fellow Lions, together let us take our District to newer heights and make this year a memorable one despite these challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
United We Serve in Kindness and Diversity.
District Governor 2020-2021
